Painting Ibises

We took a trip to Louisiana last year in March, and I was lucky enough to see a number of little white ibises while we were tooling around. They are pretty spectacular and unusual to the birds in the Midwest, certainly a thrill for this budding birder.

On researching these creatures I found out that a bright red cousin exists, aptly called the Scarlet Ibis. What a stunner! Right down to their gothy black toenails!

I did a few watercolor studies this weekend, and I’ll be working up a collection featuring these fellers sometime soon.
