The results are in for Spoonflower’s Wildflower Collage design challenge — and my design, Smell the Roses, placed 61st out of 1,538 entries.
That’s top 4%, if anyone’s counting. (I am. Casually.)
This piece started as an exploration of layered florals with a true cut-paper collage feel — vintage tones, expressive line work, and a slightly romantic but grounded palette. I wanted it to feel lush without being precious. Bold without shouting. The kind of pattern that works just as beautifully on wallpaper as it does on fabric.
Seeing it mocked up at scale really brings it to life — dramatic, immersive, and just the right amount of statement.
Huge thanks to everyone who voted, shared, and cheered it on. Design challenges are always a mix of vulnerability and adrenaline, and I’m grateful this one resonated.
If you’d like to see Smell the Roses in fabric, wallpaper, or home decor, plus a host of colorways and coordinating patterns you can find it in the Smell the Roses collection in my Spoonflower shop.
